I want to quit smoking by cutting out one cigarette a week as all other methods have failed.?
I'm 48 year old male been smoking since age 14.I only started out of curiosity but became addicted nearly immediatly.the second day my cravings were nonstop.I've tried every method to quit but always start again due to the irritability,insomnia and constant craving.I am going to give it another try by eliminating one cigarette a week.I smoke just under a pack a day.has anyone out there used this method with success?after 34 years I don't reckon another 18 months will make a lot of difference as I am really active and healthy and don't even have a smokers cough.
Years ago, I had success in quitting smoking by watching the clock. I amoked more than you do at the time. I would only smoke on the hour. If I had the urge for another cigarette, I would look at the clock and, if it hadn't been an hour, I waited. your body had to get accustomed to the lesser amount of nicotine that it has become used to. by watching the clock and using that discipline, your body will need less and less of the nicotine. It will adjust better as time goes on.
Just do it slowly. Don't quit abruptly. It doesn't work! My friend wanted to stop smoking. he didn't touch his cigarettes for a month! the following month, he started smoking again.
Excellent luck! know that you're doing your body (and other people around you) a HUGE favor by quitting! 
Ok when I quit smoking it was incredibly hard. and after repeatedly cutting back i'd always end up smoking the same amount I was before. When I finally quit it was hard candy and keeping my hands busy that worked. after 2 weeks I had a panic attack and didn't know what my problem was. the doctor gave me Lorazepam which helps you sleep. which was most of my problem. your brain is so addicted to the nicotine it will affect you in every way. but that stuff was fantastic! I reckon you should go to the dr and get some of that and quit cold turkey.
