What is the best way to quit smoking without picking up another bad habit?
I've been able to quit for a small period of time but I will eventually get mad/sad about something and have to smoke… and I already drink too much so please don't propose that as an answer to my problem
try sugarless gum or sunflower seeds… helped me. keep your mouth busy.
Cold turkey . stop using your emotions as an excuse not to quit . we all go through emotional ups and downs when we quit . If you care about your future health quit and leave the excuses behind with the cigarettes.
Just lay them down. before I quit, I tried meds ( wellbutrin, then Chantix) and I don't think that either one helped at all. one thing that really helped me sounds stupid, but, here it is; I used to brush my teeth or chew gum immediately after smoking coz I hated that after smoking taste, so when I really started craving a smoke, I would chew gum or brush my teeth.
And seriously, I can tell you as somebody who used to think I just had to smoke every time I got mad or sad, you don't have to.
