Radon Question: Does reduction of radon gas benefit your health in the same way that quitting smoking does?
I have always heard that you should quit smoking no matter how long you have been smoking because your lungs can then start to heal the damage that has been done…
Well, my question is related, and is about radon.
We've lived for five years in a house with a level of radon that was tested at 5.1 pCi/L — there was no second test, so I don't know if that is a high, low or average for our house. I regret not knowing that we had radon, especially since our son has been growing up in this house… but what's done is done.
We are now moving to a new house where the radon level was found to be 0.4 pCi/L (hooray!). my question is, now that we will be living in a house with a significantly lower level of radon, will our lungs "undo" any damage that has been done while at the house with higher levels? We are nonsmokers.
Thanks for any references about this specific topic (undoing hurt).
