Bupropion: Smoking Cessation Aid?

I am currently in the 2nd week of taking Bupropion to help me to stop smoking. it has certainly curbed my craving for nicotine, but, I've noticed several side effects. first, my overall senses have been muted – which I expected since it's a SSRI, but I seem to have a consistent dull headache that accompany these muted senses. I'm starting to feel like a zombie walking around. Second, I've started feeling like something is swelling up inside the base of my neck and pushing on my throat. like I have a constant lump in my throat. It's hasn't constricted air-flow, and is more annoying than anything.

Will these side effects eventually subside with continued use, or should I be concerned (especially, the throat pressure?) or are these normal side effects of Bupropion?

First, bupropion isn't an SSRI. Wellbutrin has a chemical structure unrelated to any other antidepressant medication. unlike some of the other recently developed antidepressants (i.e., Celexa, Paxil, Prozac, and Zoloft) that target the brain chemical serotonin, Wellbutrin does not affect serotonin. although its exact effects are not known for sure, it may act on the neuro-transmitters dopamine and norepinephrine.

I take wellbutrin..bupropion for depression but it has helped me cut back on smoking…not quit all together.
I do not have the same side effects as you and the throat one is of a bit of concern.
I looked it up on webmd and there was nothing about the side effect with the throat.
It does say to contact your doctor if there are side effects not clarified there. you may be having an allergic reaction to it.
Call your doctor immediately!
